PCD Turning Inserts

Polycrystalline diamond turning inserts for high-wear finishing applications in non-ferrous and selected non-metallic materials. Variants are organized by insert style, PCD option and application group.

Choose by Application

  • Extrusion aluminum: select variants marked for extruded aluminum applications.
  • Die-cast aluminum: select the corresponding die-casting application variants.
  • Non-metallic: use the listed non-metallic variants for compatible composite and non-metal materials.

Important Material Limit

PCD is primarily intended for non-ferrous and non-metallic machining. Do not assume a PCD insert is suitable for steel or ferrous materials unless the specific application is explicitly verified.

BB PCD Insert

-Non-metallic
Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass, Nylon, Hardwood, Bakelite, Acrylic, Ceramics, and so on.

-Nonferrous
①Die casting Aluminum
②Extrusions Aluminum alloy, Copper alloy , and so on.

Can't machining black metal, steel, iron, etc.

PCD

Polycrystalline diamond.
Diamond tools have the characteristics of high hardness, high compressive strength, good thermal conductivity and wear resistance, and can obtain high machining accuracy and machining efficiency in high-speed cutting.
1, the hardness of PCD can reach 8000HV, 8 to 12 times that of cemented carbide;
2. The thermal conductivity of PCD is 700W/mK, which is 1.5 to 9 times that of cemented carbide, and even higher than PCBN and copper, so the heat transfer of PCD tools is rapid;
The friction coefficient of PCD is generally only 0.1~0.3 (the friction coefficient of cemented carbide is 0.4~1), so the PCD tool can significantly reduce the cutting force;
4. The thermal expansion coefficient of PCD is only 0.9 × 10 ^-6~1.18 × 10 ^-6, which is only equivalent to 1/5 of that of cemented carbide, so the Thermal Deformation of PCD tools is small and the machining accuracy is high;
5. The affinity between PCD tools and non-ferrous and non-metallic materials is very small, and the chips are not easy to bond to the tool tip to form chip accumulation during processing.
